Yesterday was a hard day in the Irwin house. We found out that our beloved pet beagle, Lou has cancer. I haven't lost a pet since I was in high school, so I was shocked at the emotions that the news brought. The vet did some blood work that revealed the news, but we have decided not to do any more testing. The weird thing is that she was fine last week and this week, not so much. We're hoping that some medication will make things a little better for her.

Meet Lou
We "inherited" Lou from former MAF missionaries, the Hoffmans, when they left Shell about 6 years ago. She is a sweet dog, who suffers from obesity! We don't feed her all that much (except when my parents are here slipping her food) - but she still keeps her lovely waist line....or lack there of!
She's also a great guard dog. She is definitely racist, as she mainly barks at Ecuadorians and not "gringos"! She also "caught" a snake for us this weekend. My dad was sitting inside when he saw Lou playing with something by throwing it into the air. Low and behold, it was a snake!! Thankfully my dad then ran and got a shovel and took care of Lou's chew toy, before it took care of her!
Josiah said that grandpa needed to go home because we always seem to find snakes when he's around. The next picture is of another snake Chad found in our hallway....yes, our hallway, right before he left.

You know you're not a missionary when you chop the head off before you take the picture! Oh, my dad has so much to learn!! |
