Friends

Last weekend we had a blast with some of our most precious Ecuadorian friends.  We became friends with Carlos and Silvana when we first moved to Ecuador and lived in Sucua.  It was a great blessing that by moving to Shell we were able to be involved with their extended family as well.   Silvana's mother, Maria, lives here in Shell and so does Silvana's brother, Clever.  The rest of the family lives in Ambato and Quito.  The convenient thing for us is that for special occasions, of course, the whole family comes here to Shell.

Such was the case this past weekend.  It was Maria's birthday, so her family from Quito, Ambato and Sucua came to town.  All of them, plus us, plus 3 girls from the US (They are renting rooms from Maria as they volunteer for a year in different ministries.) were able to celebrate Maria's birthday on Saturday night (imagine pictionary in Spanish)  and then on Sunday they all came over for a church service and family photos.  It was a BLAST!   There are few Ecuadorians with whom we feel like we can be ourselves completely, but with them we're family.  So, needless to say, we laughed A LOT.
