Champions!

Josiah has had the awesome opportunity to play on Crestview's 5th and 6th grade football team.  He has LOVED (and that is an understatement!) E V E R Y, single minute of it!  He is Mr. Football in Shell.  Everyone there knows that Josiah's passion is football.  So, for our furlough to coincide with the football season was just amazing for him.  They finished their season as league champions and then traveled to a large tournament in Troy, Ohio.  Although they didn't finish as well as they would have liked at the tournament, they still had a great season, finishing 9-2 overall.  Andi and I weren't able to be at the final tournament, as we were in Virginia for a missions conference.   When we got back, Josiah filled us in on every detail from the weekend.  His final comment left all of us in tears.   He said "dad, you know when we were in the final huddle and the coaches were talking to us after the game?  I just didn't want that moment to end."  In fact, it brings tears to my eyes as I type it.  There are a lot of things that we as missionaries grieve over and our kids not getting to enjoy some of the things we loved while growing up is one of them.   God was so good to give Josiah this amazing opportunity and we are so thankful to Him for it.  The hard part for us is knowing that in a few short weeks we will be tearing our kids away (again) from all of the connections they have made while we've been home.  That, my friend, is one of the hardest parts about being a missionary.   Sometimes Matthew 19:29 is just too close to home,  but we know that He is faithful to fulfill the promise that verse contains.

You might say he was a little excited!

We are so thankful to all of the coaches and the players and their families.  They made Josiah feel so welcome the entire season.  We couldn't have asked for a better sports experience for Josiah.

Proud and COLD parents.

  1. Andi and Chad- your son is an awesome child of the Lord and I cannot tell you how much he meant to all of us! Your faith and service has inspired and encouraged me and I know God will reward your sacrifice. You have truly taken up your cross and followed Him. What a blessing this season has been! You will be in my prayers constantly and we hope to have a team party soon.
